It’s been 2 years since Castledoor arrived on the scene in Los Angeles. For some reason, I have always missed seeing them live, so I finally caught them at their free Monday night residency at Spaceland. I have to say, oh boy have I been missing out on one of the best live bands Los Angeles has to offer.
The band seems poised for far bigger stages than Spaceland. They have just released their debut album Shouting at Mountains and have a few more shows left at their Spaceland residency, which should not be missed if you’re in the Los Angeles area.

Earlier we made Bat for Lashes our Obsession of the Week and now she’s back with her latest video for “Daniel”. The song is off her upcoming sophmore album Two Suns, which gets its release on April 7th . The video is beautifully shot and goes perfectly with the dark song.
She’s currently on tour to support the album–check out the dates after the cut.

The obsession of the week once again is Los Angeles singer/songwriter Jeremy Jay. Last year we were going crazy about Airwalker, and now he’s back with a new album called “Slow Dance,” which was released on March 24th on K Records. He is currently touring the US and plays Los Angeles tonight at The Smell with another Threadtrend favorite Princeton.

I though someone was playing an April Fools joke on me when I heard this, but it’s true! After lots of rumors and subsequent heartbreaks, The Vaselines are officially touring North America, and so far stops include LA, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Seattle and a few more lucky cities.
To sweeten the deal, the Scottish two-piece will be releasing Enter the Vaselines, a re-issue of their lone and highly influential full-length album, The Way of the Vaselines. It will also include a slew of re-mastered works, previously-unheard demos, and live recordings.

The obsession for the week is Natasha Khan’s Bat For Lashes. I fell in love with her last album Fur and Gold, like many did. She will release the follow up Two Suns on April 6th in the US. The album has a running theme of duality and features high-profile collaborations with Scott Walker and Yeasayer. She has lined up a brief east coast tour with more tour dates to be announced soon.
