Why Did Stella McCartney Go “Ballistic” Over this Ad?

It was reported that Stella McCartney went “ballistic” when she spotted this Hockley ad in Vogue featuring her lingerie…under a mink coat.

We thought it was pretty obvious that Stella, a super-strict vegetarian and super-vocal animal rights activist who doesn’t use leather or fur in her designs would freak out over something like this, but apparently it didn’t occur to the stylist for the British fur boutique. The worst part is that lingerie was loaned to the stylist by the fashion house because they thought it would be used for an editorial piece. What a mess.

Hockley has apologized, and they’re pulling the ad, which cost about $20,000 to shoot.

Damn. Stella is powerful. I pity that poor stylist.

Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Wardrobe

Costume designs from Madonna‘s upcoming Sticky and Sweet tour, which starts up this month and will hit Dodger Stadium on Nov 5th, have hit the web. Designers lined up in droves to design custom outfits and shoes for the tour.

Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits, Tom Ford provided bespoke suits, 3 pairs of shoes were custom made by Miu Miu, thigh-high boots came from Stella McCartney, sunglasses are by Moschino and other outfits were created by Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli and Jeremy Scott.

A majority of the tour dates have sold out but some dates are still available.

Teen Scene: Saleisha’s ‘Seventeen’ cover and Good styling in ‘Teen Vogue’

OK… Here goes… So, as promised, Saleisha got her Seventeen cover and a 5 page fashion spread published in the February 2008 issue. There are mixed opinions all over the internet (including Threadtrend readers) about how she looks and how the competition was robbed. My personal opinion? Who cares?! I mean have you ever asked yourself “Out of the 1.7 billion girls who auditioned how in the hell did these 13 mediocre city college students make it to TV? It’s not a real competition people!!

Anyway, I digress…. The hair wig still sucks, yes she’s 110% commercial, and who chose the cover outfit? But you know what, she won and, well, we’ll see how her “career” goes…. Phew, glad that’s over!

Secondly, the adorable fashion spread in Teen Vogue’s February 2008 issue serves to teach teens (and grown ass women) how to accessorize and layer using a simple primary color pallette. I mean really, when’s the last time you’ve seen a 15 year old dressed like this? I’ve been having a hard time accessorizing in the morning and I’m 25 years old!

Lots of colorful beaded necklaces, bracelets, and fabulous shoes from Stella McCartney’s Spring 08′ line adorn the pre-Spring looks like high-waisted shorts, short-sleeve button ups, graphic 3/4 sleeve belted trenches, bright anoraks, and slim cardigans. Again, it’s all about the mixture of simple pieces with detailed graphic/ethnic prints and eye-popping accessories that tie the looks right in. I love it and I can’t wait for Spring!!
