The Watson Twins join Davy Rothbart and his Found Magazine‘s Denim and Diamonds Tour when it comes to the Largo at the Coronet on June 24th. Hitting 55 cities, the tour is in celebration of the release of Requiem for a Paper Bag and includes music from Peter Rothbart, who performs Found-themed songs.
They’ll be sharing new notes, letters, death threats and other found objects. I saw this show in Ann Arbor last month, and I wholeheartedly endorse it–it’s totally funny. Plus, the Watson Twins to boot.
This weekend the Coachella Music and Arts Festival rolled through the California desert, leaving behind plenty of happy people. The line up had garnerd mixed reviews as people were waiting for some
big additions that never materialized.
After attending the festival, I can safely say that Paul McCartney was worth the admission price alone. He played a 2-and-half hour plus set that was filled with many of The Beatles biggest hits. The festival had many other standout performances, and I’ve compiled a few from the videos that were available, sorry there were no
My Bloody Valentine or Antony and the Johnsons videos up yet. But here was the best of Coachella 2009 after the cut.

This weekend is the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California. So, in honor of the festival, I decided to make the Obsession of the Week a Coachella performing artist. With all the hot acts playing, it was a tough choice to just single out one pick, but I decided to go with Etienne de Crécy, who will most likely be the artist on everyone’s lips come Monday morning.
Headlining the Sahara tent on Sunday night, this will be the performance that will blow everyone away. Make sure you’re in the tent early, which I know will be hard since The Cure are playing at the same time.
Check out the video of this electronic powerhouse above and be prepared to have your mind blow.

Last night Threadtrend attended the DVD release party for Michel Gondry 2: More Videos (before & after DVD 1). The party, which was held at The Montalbán in Hollywood was billed as “An Evening with Michel Gondry and Friends.” The event was put on by Nike Sportswear and was part of of Cinema Tuesdays which is curated by Flux. The event had an open bar hosted by Belvedere. The many VIPs in attendance included Seth Rogan, Jospeh Gordon-Levitt, Saul Williams, Emile Hirsch and lots more.
The night certainly lived up to the title as it began with a Q & A session with Michel on such topics as his craziest dreams, if he is from a family of inventors and insight into his creative mind. They showed clips from the DVD and afterwards held a signing, where you had the opportunity to get the Hit N Run screenprinted Michel Gondry notebook signed.
To top off the night, Jon Brion did a performance of covers with Michel Gondry on drums. They performed such songs as Daft Punk’s “Around The World“, “Rappers Delight” and the theme to “Midnight Run”.
The DVD is available exclusively on the just launched Michel Gondry website and features a nearly 3-hour compilation of videos and never-been-seen behind-the-scenes content. The music videos on the DVD range from The White Stripes, Paul McCartney, Beck, Kanye West, Bjork and Radiohead.
Take a look at a preview some of the material after the cut.

I though someone was playing an April Fools joke on me when I heard this, but it’s true! After lots of rumors and subsequent heartbreaks, The Vaselines are officially touring North America, and so far stops include LA, San Francisco, Brooklyn, Seattle and a few more lucky cities.
To sweeten the deal, the Scottish two-piece will be releasing Enter the Vaselines, a re-issue of their lone and highly influential full-length album, The Way of the Vaselines. It will also include a slew of re-mastered works, previously-unheard demos, and live recordings.
