The film pick of the week is the Oscar nominated drama The Class. Directed by Laurent Cantet, The Class is based upon the autobiography of the film’s star Francois Begaudeau and his time teaching junior high school students in a racially diverse section of France. The film is shot in documentary style with Francois playing a fictionalized version of himself but with real life students cast. The film is no Dangerous Minds, and you are put into the class room observing the dynamic relationship in the classroom over the year. Winning rave reviews and the Palme D’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival , it’s not to be missed.
