This Sunday marks the opening of Vanity Fair Portraits: Photographs 1913–2008, LACMA‘s latest exhibit. Juxtaposing the magazine’s vintage photos with its contemporary ones, the exhibit explores the way the relationship between celebrities and photography have changed.
It’s sponsored by Burberry and includes photos from Man Ray, Imogen Cunningham, Annie Leibovitz, Steven Meisel, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, and Mario Testino.
There’s been some talk that this exhibit lacks depth and “scholarship,” but I can’t help it, it looks fun.
