Art Scene:Banksy’s “The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill”

Celebrated street artist Banksy is opening his first official exhibition in New York called “The Village Pet Store and Charcoal Grill.” The shop will be located in the West Village and be open to the public until Oct 31st. The store features various animatronic animals such as a rabbit in front of a mirror filing its nails, what appears to be leopard in a tree with its tail swinging only to find out its a fur coat, a monkey in a cage wearing headphones while holding a remote control and watching a television clip of other monkeys, fishsticks inside a fishbowl and chicken nuggets dunking themselves into dipping sauce.

Banksy states via the New York Times:

“I wanted to make art that questioned our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming.”
