Last night, My Bloody Valentine played a sold out show at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium to much fanfare. There was something in the air as everyone in attendance knew they were in for something very special with most of the crowd talking about the previous night’s performance at the same venue. My expectations were quite high for the show, and I was left completely blown away by what I witnessed as the band let out a full sonic assault of the senses.
In a time where everyone is worried about the current economy and all the other issues going on in the United States ,the band totally relieved you of any other thought and totally immersed you in nothing else but the music. There has been a lot of talk about how loud the show is, and I have to say, I may have permanent hearing loss after the show–my ears are still ringing and their last song “You Made Me Realise” featured a 15 minute interlude that was an endurance test for the ears.
Ear plugs or not it was like standing next to a rocket taking off for 15 minutes before finally coming back down. Its safe to say that everyone in attendance had there mind blown.
