Celebrated artist Damien Hirst, who recently made headlines when he sold a complete show “Beautiful Inside my Head Forever” via auction house Sotheby’s, breaking records for a one artist auction and netting him 198 million dollars, has collaborated with Levi’s for a limited-edition line.

The collection pays homage to the iconic Levi’s brand, 501 jeans and his own career. No word on when this line will go onsale, but it will be displayed in the window at Colette Oct 23rd through the 26th.

Watch This: Antony and the Johnsons’ “Another World”

The video for the new Antony and the Johnsons’ single “Another World” has finally been released. Its taken off his forthcoming EP of the same name, which will be released next week on Oct 7th. The video is directed by Colin Whitaker. Sort of like a companion piece to “Hope There’s Someone,” this song deals with all the earthly things he’ll miss in the new world to hypnotic effect.

The EP, which consists of 5 songs and is a teaser for his first full-length album in many years The Crying Light which comes out on Secretly Canadian in Jan 2009.

Under the Radar: The Protest Issue

Last month’s issue of Under The Radar was their annual protest issue, where they commission musical artists to make their own protest signs. This year they got many people, including Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Jarvis Cocker, Chuck D., Built to Spill, Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse, Billy Bragg, Death Cab for Cutie, Britt Daniel of Spoon, Fleet Foxes, Sharon Jones, Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, Michael Stipe and many more.

The issue just went off newsstands, but you can now own a the artist’s protest signs. Under the Radar magazine is hosting an online auction which begins today here (at 12 PST).  All proceeds will be donated to War Child, an organization that is dedicated to providing humanitarian assistance to war-affected children around the world.

M.I.A. Suspends Retirement for the Diesel xXx Party

On Saturday, Oct 11th M.I.A. will return to the stage after the brief hiatus she took after her Bonaroo preformance, during which she announced was retiring. Some people thought it was a joke and all calls for a comment were never returned.

In the meantime, she has launched a clothing line and watched her single “Paper Planes” skyrocket up the charts and become a top 5 smash on the hot 100, where it was bumping shoulders with the likes of T.I. and Pink. Now, she will be playing the Diesel xXx Party, which is taking palce in 18 cities around the world beginning in Tokyo and finishing with a grand finale in New York City.

The party will be a Rock-‘n-Roll-Circus-themed party for 5,000 of Diesel’s closest friends and trendsetters. The party will be taking place on Pier 3 at the Brooklyn waterfront. Also on the bill will be NERD and Hot Chip.

Marc Jacobs‘ mouse flats are celebrating 10 years with a new collaboration with artist KAWS. The shoes will be produced in a super limited amount of 200 pairs worldwide and go on sale today. The flats can be purchased at Originalfake in Tokyo, Marc Jacobs in London and Colette in Paris.

LA Events: Mars Volta Plays Detour, others play Eagle Rock Music Festival.

This weekend two festivals come to Los Angeles with stellar line ups. First up is the Detour Festival, which will take over the streets surround City Hall in Downtown LA. This is the 3rd year for the festival, and bands will rock out on 4 stages. Playing this year is The Mars Volta, Gogol Bordello, Shiny Toy Guns, Black Lips, Data Rock, Cut Copy, Bloody Beetroots, The Presets and many many more.

This year they’ll also have the Koss Silent Disco, where they will give out headphones to concert goers and have them dance, which will give the appearence of a silent disco.

Tickets are $40.50 and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.

Also happening this week for the bargain basement price of Free is the Eagle Rock Music Festival, which is taking place in Eagle Rock on Colorado Blvd (between Eagle rock Blvd and Argus). It will feature 2 main stages and 14 bands spread across 14 venues.

The line up features a who’s who of Los Angeles-based bands that are all heating up with buzz. Here’s who you will be able to see for free: Abe Vigoda, The Antarticans, Crystal Antlers, Earlimart, Edward Sharpe and the MAgnetic Zeroes, Le Switch, Light FM, Mika Miko, The Parson Redheads, Pierre De Reeder (Rilo Kiley), Pizza!, Princeton. Radar Bros., Very Be Careful, all of this, again, for FREE.


Sophomore Fall 08 Collection: Not Sophmoric

I can’t stop looking at the Sophomore Fall 08 lookbook. This line is a major expansion from last season, which was all tees and totes.  I’m way into the details, the colors and the laid back design. Kind of an effortless look but still put together.  What more can you ask for?
