1228 is the work of San Francisco-based designer Nico Lopez, who started out making stage clothes for her musical friends. Her current Spring/Summer 08 collection was inspired by Nico’s love for vintage clothes as well as”Lolita, Taxi Driver, Art Deco, ballet basics, and beyond.”
In this collection, she uses vintage fabric and remnants as well as organic cotton, hemp and silk.
Also, check out her jewelry and hairpieces, which sell in SF boutiques.

The Synopsis: Last night on Project Runway, the designers had to create a look from material used to make a Saturn. Talk about shameless product placement, but it was actually a fun episode. Who knew there were so many ways to fashion a seatbelt? Keeping with this season’s trend of disappointing guest judges, Rachel Zoe rated the runway.
The Winner: A much-deserved win went to Leanne for a uniquely silhouetted piece (see above)–the back was amazing and that fringe on top is made of seat belt. Yeah, I know.
The Loser: Poor Keith. He lost for this blah outfit and then got all whiny, so Kors had to verbally spank him (it’s never good when Kors starts a sentence with “Guess what”). If the back of Leanne’s outfit is what gave her the win, it was the back of this thing that lost it for Keith. Why’d his dumb model have to sit down when he practically begged her not to?
However boring Keith’s design was, I still think the judges missed the mark on this one because Stella’s was truly disgusting, as usual:
I know Stella is a fun character, but I’m over it! That skirt looked like a third-grader’s version of a Herve Leger creation–the vest is the only thing that saved her, and that’s because it was made of a “leatha”-like substance.
At this point, I think it’s safe to say that Korto is going to make it to Bryant Park. Even though Terri said this looked like “Jeepers Creepers,” it completely outshone her creation on the runway. This picture doesn’t really do it justice. Zoe was in love with it.
Here’s Terri’s thing:
Terri, this is not cute. It looks like something Jada Pinket Smith would wear…or maybe if Selena was still alive? I don’t get the Terri thing at all–her clothes look like Santee Alley specials, and the hem on that pant is horrors.
The adorable and sassy Jerell was responsible for another runway fave: this futuristic ensemble. i don’t get the boots, but the outfit was cute and sexy. I hope he makes it to the end, but it’s hard to say.
Blayne should thank his lucky stars that they didn’t throw him off for this–what is with the top? Tailor that shit!
And then there were 9, folks!
ps. Mikey sends his regrets for not piping in on this post, but he’s swamped!
ps 2. I looked all over for a pic of Heidi wearing one of my favorite dresses from the Jovovich-Hawk Fall 08 collection last night, but no dice. Leave it to Klum to pull off vertical stripes without looking like a circus clown.

A gold sculpture of Kate Moss, created by artist Marc Quinn, is about to go on display at the British Museum. The Independent reports that it’s the largest gold statue since the days of Ancient Egypt. The work, dubbed “Siren,” is worth about 3 million dollars. It will be on display from October 4 to late January.
Quinn has used Moss as his muse before. Remember this:
Is it just me, or has this whole Kate Moss thing gotten really out of hand ?

Everyone’s going gaga for the Isaac Mizrahi fall collection for Target. I must admit, I’m getting swept up by the hoopla thanks to these preview pics. I love chic, inexpensive work clothes. Of course, I’ve learned it’s a often a mistake to fall head over heels for Target clothes before you actually see them in person, but I remain cautiously optimistic.
However, if these images speak the truth, Isaac is really going out with a bang!

I must say, I love a wooden heeled boot, but not in this case. I’m also all for the 3rd coming of the Dr. Marten, but this is a reincarnation that I can’t get behind.

Saying it plain, recently Tim Gunn told OK Magazine how he really feels about this season’s cast of Project Runway:
“They walk around telling each other how great they are and I keep saying to them, someone is gonna go home. We have Stella and her leatha, she’s got to get away from that, and she’s constantly defending, ‘That’s what I do.’ Then you’re nothing but a one-note. You’d better get prepared to pack your bags.”

Radiohead played a sold out residency at the Hollywood Bowl this past Sunday and Monday, which I was lucky enough to attend. The second night has people buzzing that it was one of the best nights of the tour as the band tore through and amazing selection of songs including a Neil Young cover of “Tell Me Why” that had everyone raving.
The tour in support for In Rainbows is winding down, but here are the highlights from the show and the Neil Young cover:
