I went the debut of LOOP on Saturday night at Gen Art in Silverlake. It was a reasonably fun party with good music, eye-popping art and free Peroni. The event was a sneak peek at some of the artists to be showcased at the upcoming POOLtradeshow, an indie venture for established boutique brands and emerging designers that’s held twice a year in conjunction with MAGIC in Las Vegas.
There were lots of interesting t-shirts, dresses and bags on display by Quiet Hero (the pink shirt below is available on their website), Purlieu (the frock on top) and Denada (the yellow shirt) among others (sorry I can’t name all of the artists, but like I said, they were giving away Peronis):
And the paintings were as pretty amazing too, with an emphasis on Peter Max-esque psychedelia and even Peggy Moffit:
Here’s a close-up:
And is this bandit wall by Kelly Towles (check out her website) an Allen Ginsberg reference?
Sure looks like it to me.
